I named this design after Powell County, Montana. It holds my first memories of mountains as a child and my first memories of being among the wildflowers. It’s beauty is abundant but what’s less known is that this is gold country. Powell county holds Montana’s first discovery of gold. These deposits did not deliver enough to mine but sparked interest in looking elsewhere for more. Millions of dollars of gold came out of this county alone along with greed and grit.
Although the gold veins did not last, the wildflowers have and they’ve taken over those old mines and reclaimed their space. I wish I could bottle up that resilience and patience to carry it as my own, but for now I will just admire theirs and share this story.
